RENO, Nevada: A Tesla Cybertruck crashed in Reno, Nevada, while using the Full Self-Driving (FSD) feature.
The truck failed to merge when the lane ended, hit a curb, and crashed into a pole.
The driver, Jonathan Challinger, warned others on social media to stay alert and not rely too much on the system. He also reported possible mechanical issues.
Tesla has faced criticism and investigations over its self-driving technology after several crashes, including fatal ones.
Despite this, CEO Elon Musk recently claimed the system has greatly improved. Experts warn that AI still struggles with merging and sudden road changes, making full automation risky.
Musk plans to launch a paid self-driving taxi service, starting in Texas by June and expanding to other states by year-end.
Tesla's system relies only on cameras, unlike other companies that use additional safety technologies. Some experts believe this makes Tesla's approach cheaper but riskier, especially in poor visibility conditions.
The crash has sparked new doubts about whether Tesla's self-driving technology is ready for fully autonomous operation.
