DOYLESTOWN, PA / ACCESSWIRE / September 15, 2023 / In the program's third year, Travis Manion Foundation's (TMF) Back-to-School Character Day events deployed more than 200 TMF-trained veteran mentors who provided a character development and outreach to more than 5,000 students in 97 communities across the country.
Through the Back to School initiative, TMF veteran mentors develop meaningful connections with students by equipping them with character, optimism, and the confidence to succeed in school. The annual program also helps fill an economic gap as participating students received a backpack full of school supplies to ensure students nationwide start the school year properly.
'I am proud of the hundreds of TMF veteran mentors who led another successful Back-to-School initiative serving as positive role models to our next generation,' said Ryan Manion, President, Travis Manion Foundation. 'Starting the school year with the necessary school supplies promotes learning and boosts self-esteem. TMF veterans continue to lead in their communities by ensuring more than 5,000 students across the country are prepared to begin a successful school year.'
TMF also partnered with Amazon Global Military affairs in nine of these communities to host a free back-to-school shop, providing essentials from notebooks to healthy lunch snacks, ensuring every child is equipped with the supplies needed to be successful and ready for school. Donations to support this initiative can be made online at Travis Manion Foundation Back-To-School Character Days.
About Travis Manion Foundation: Travis Manion Foundation (TMF) unites communities to strengthen America's national character by empowering veterans and families of fallen heroes to develop and lead future generations. In 2007, 1stLt Travis Manion (USMC) was killed in Iraq while saving his wounded teammates. Today, Travis' legacy lives on in the words he spoke before leaving for his final deployment, 'If Not Me, Then Who...' Guided by this mantra, veterans continue their service, develop strong relationships with their communities, and thrive in their post-military lives by serving as character role models to youth. As a result, communities prosper and the character of our nation's heroes lives on in the next generation.
