HAVANA, July 27 (Xinhua) -- Cuba reported on Tuesday 7,903 new COVID-19 infections and 75 more deaths in the last 24 hours, bringing the total to 349,055 cases and 2,492 deaths, according to the Ministry of Public Health's daily report.
These indicators are the results of the impact of the new variants of coronavirus circulating in the country, the ministry's national director of hygiene and epidemiology Francisco Duran said.
The official noted that Cuba has reported over 6,000 infections in more than six days, which shows the complexity of transmission.
Havana, with a population of more than 2 million, reported 1,552 infections in the last day, followed by the provinces of Matanzas (993) and Ciego de Avila (901).
Meanwhile, more than 8.9 million vaccine doses against COVID-19 of nationally-produced vaccines have been administered as part of the country's national immunization campaign, with over 2.4 million people receiving the three doses.
